Aquatic Hobby Horse

I jammed out another in my hobby horse series, this one based on a sea horse shaped hobby horse. The hobby horse itself is a solid royal blue and sits in a play area with other animal themed hobby horses. This one is located in Waite Park in Minneapolis.

Trusty #8

Here is another in my hobby horse series. I started this one sitting at a slow arts festival. I deliberately put the highlights opposite the shadow.

This is the tird in a series of drawings using playground hobby horses as subject matter. In this drawing I used oil pastel for the first time in over 15 years. I an not sure I like it on plywood but who can tell.

New drawing Hobby Horse #2

As I finished this drawing I wondered about the mounting spring and whether it is needed in the drawings. All of my subjects are from parks, and they are all mounted the same way. I guess only time will tell whether I leave it in the future drawings.

First drawing in a new series - Hobby Horses

I am embarking on a new series of drawings of Hobby Horses as found in city parks. So far I have found that it seems all the parks have different themes of Hobby Horse from horses to airplanes to dinosaurs. This should prove to be a light and fun series. I will, of course, continue to draw treetops (ten on view June-July 2008 in Rochester) shadows and all manner of other subjects. Enjoy.
